BYD makes the transition to electric driving even more accessible with improved warranty conditions

Zaventem, 5 January 2026 - For even greater peace of mind for both private and professional customers, BYD, the world leader in electric mobility and battery technology, is further extending the warranty conditions for the high-voltage batteries of its electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) to 8 years or 250,000 kilometres.

BYD Blade battery

This extension to 8 years or 250,000 kilometres, whichever comes first, not only applies to new vehicles, but is also retroactively applied to all previously sold models. In concrete terms, BYD is outperforming the market average of around 8 years and 150,000 kilometres that applies to most high-voltage batteries in EV and PHEV models. This is how the brand is making the transition to electric driving a lot more accessible for both private and professional customers.

‘Our customers should be able to focus on the benefits of electric driving, without worrying about unplanned costs or concerns about the battery,’ says Rob Van Weyenbergh, Head of Aftersales at BYD Belux. "With these new warranty terms, we want to offer both private buyers and professional fleet managers maximum security and peace of mind. A strong warranty on the high-voltage battery not only underlines our technological strength, but also our commitment to protecting the mobility and investment security of every BYD customer. Finally, a convincing guarantee for current and new owners enhances the residual value of all BYD vehicles.'

With its more generous warranty terms, BYD is responding to the main concerns of current and potential (PH)EV drivers: long-term reliability and predictable operating costs throughout the vehicle's lifetime. ‘For us, this extended warranty is a logical consequence of the innovative blade battery with which all BYDs are equipped,’ Rob Van Weyenbergh explains. ‘In addition to its warranty, it offers everyday benefits such as industry-leading safety, minimal efficiency loss in colder temperatures and no restrictions on maximum charging to full battery capacity.’

Overview of warranty conditions on BYD vehicles

The extension of the battery warranty is backed up by a robust warranty package for all BYD models:

• General vehicle warranty: 6 years or 150,000 km.

• Powertrain: up to 8 years or 150,000 km.

• Bodywork: 12 years (no mileage limit) against rusting from the inside.

• High-voltage battery: 8 years or 250,000 km.
